43 people died in work-related incidents last year including seven in Cork.
It’s an increase of 15 deaths nationally compared to 2022, with the farming and construction sector making up over two-thirds of fatalities.
Half of those who died were 55 or older and just over half were self-employed.
Speaking to RedFM News Assistant Chief Executive of the HSA, Mark Cullen outlines the counties with the highest number of work-related deaths:
"Cork, Dublin, Kerry and Wexford. Overall the number of fatalities for last year was 43 and it’s disappointing and it’s unfortunate that so many people have lost their lives in workplace accidents.
From the HSA’s perspective, one accident is one too many and each one of those accidents is preventable."
