Cork has some of the best results in the country in the Environmental Protection Agency's 'Water Quality in Ireland 2016 - 2021' Report.
The study, published yesterday, found that over 20% of the rivers and lakes surveyed in Cork were graded as having "High Quality" water, while over half were graded as "good".
None were in the worst category.
Meanwhile, the Green Party in Kinsale has criticised what it called "continuous and ongoing breaches at Kinsale's Waste Water Treatment Plant".
The criticism follows a Site Visit Report by the EPA, which reported that "Odour is an on-going issue [at the Waste Water Treatment Plant in Kinsale], particularly during the summer months, and odour mitigation measures taken to date have not resolved the odour issue".
