A Cork hotelier says the wet weather is having a negative impact on the number of people booking staycations this year
President of the Irish Hotels Federation Michael Magner says the domestic market is already struggling with increased operational costs, the rise in the minimum wage and the return of the VAT rate to 13%
Calls have been made for more targeted supports to assist tourism and hospitality businesses as they increase a drop in bookings
Speaking to RedFM News Michael Magner says the rain is leading to people chasing better weather
"And another factor that you know people are starting to talk about now is the weather. And while we don't have any specific data on it, there is a sense that the weather has been so bad, over the past 10 months that Irish people want to just get away and enjoy a bit of sunshine"
