Cork, Kanturk and Skibbereen have been identified among the 26 towns across Ireland that will benefit under the Town Centre First Plan
The aim of the scheme is to boost business and tourism, create community parks and walkways, and protect historical landmarks.
Each of the towns will receive 30,000 euro to fund a redevelopment plan.
Minister for Rural and Community Development, Heather Humphreys, says her department will be liaising with all stakeholders in the community
"We're also going to provide funding to help towns, improve their digital presence. Town centre regeneration officers will also play a very important role in that. There's a lot of money going out there now to support towns, and to build that capacity to make sure that our towns are better places to live, work, invest and raise a family"
