A Cork man is calling for others to mark the anniversary of the Ardmore tragedy with him.
The SS Ardmore left Penrose Quay for Fishguard on the 11 November 1940, but never reached its destination.
All twenty-four men on board, including 16 Cork men, perished when their boat struck a mine.
Noel Raymond's grand-uncle, Michael, was one of those killed.
According to the Echo, Noel has arranged for a priest to say prayers at a commemorative plaque on Penrose Quay at half past 2, next Thursday - the 81st anniversary of the tragedy
He is inviting others to join him.
