A Youghal man who was flown home to Cork after an accident in Crete at the end of July has died at Cork University Hospital.
42-year-old Jonathan (Jiles) Tobin, from Youghal, was taken unconscious from the water on a beach in Crete having sustained a suspected stroke. He spent three months in a comatosed state in a Greek hospital before being flown home
His flight home came about after Labour's Seán Sherlock raised the matter in the Dáil and consulted with the Health Minister and the HSE chartered an air ambulance to bring him home under the Government’s Treatment Abroad scheme.
Jiles Tobin died last night at CUH surrounded by his family and close friends.
