The Cork mother of a teenager with an eating disorder says making yourself sick can become a habit that is difficult to break.
Members of CARED Ireland which provides support for family members of those with eating disorders are fighting for better services.
Hannah Farrington's teenage daughter who suffers from anorexia has needed treatment for over 8 months.
Speaking to RedFM News, Hannah who lives in Clonakilty says her daughters eating disorder has become so severe that she now can't attend school:
"From the research I have now undertaken, my understanding is that you can now liken making yourself sick to being a smoker, it just becomes a habit. Had the referal I out into the GP been taken seriously 8 months ago I don't think we would be in the same situation now, she's not able to go to school."
