A Cork mother whose husband and daughters died in a murder suicide has vowed to continue her campaign for mental ill health to be addressed in relation to familicide.
Una Butler was speaking out after the publication of the familicide report which she says has left her feeling distraught.
Her husband John killed their young daughters - 6 year-old Ella and 2 year-old Zoe - at their home in Ballycotton in November 2010 and then took his own life. He had been released from the mental health services just six weeks earlier.
She says she's deeply disappointed that the familicide report did not contain any mention of including the family in the care of mentally ill loved ones.
Speaking to RedFM News Una Butler questioned whether the system is ever going to change.
"I've been raising this issue with over 12 years, and nothing has changed. How many more years is it going to take? Is it ever going to change?
"Patient confidentiality doesn't have to be broken. The health professionals can gain a greater insight by listening to a family member, the other points of view of the person's behaviour, without treating the person in isolation."
