Communities across Cork need to feel safe in the wake of a recent spike in violence across the city
Gardai are investigating two shooting incidents in the city along with two petrol bombings which are believed to be linked to an ongoing feud
Public representatives have criticised the number of Gardai allocated to Cork with just one trainee garda allocated to the city from the recent batch of Templemore graduates.
Sinn Fein's Donnchadh O'Laoighaire told RedFM News that Cork is being neglected
"When serious incidents like that happen, communities feel terrified, they feel traumatised and they feel neglected. I think people have an entitlement to feel safe, whether that's in our suburban communities in our city centre, or in our towns and villages across the county. Cork is just simply not getting enough focus at a national level. Only one out of 124 recruits coming from the Garda college assigned to Cork is simply not good enough. It's neglectful"
