Mary O'Sullivan's family were not able to be with her when she reached the milestone at St Luke's Home in Mahon yesterday due to visitor restrictions, but that didn't stop staff from making it a birthday to remember.
Mary is from Carrigaline and was born into a farming family in 1920 and so was delighted when staff member Ursula Mc Grath from Mitchelstown brought in a hen for her to pet.
Mary was then given a letter and cheque from President Michael D. Higgins and celebrated her 'hen party' with staff and residents:
A very special happy 100th birthday to Mary O’Sullivan. She had a special visitor, a hen and it made her day!!
Thanks Ursula Mc Grath for bringing the hen in!!Posted by St Lukes Charity & Home Cork on Wednesday, May 13, 2020
