"How much more can people take before Government action is taken on rising bills?"
The words of Catriona Twomey from Cork Penny Dinners who says the numbers turning to them for help are rising every day
The charity is now serving meals up to 500 people a day a jump of about 200 a day on the numbers they were helping before Christmas
The increase is being directly attributed to rising inflation which is now running at over 6% which has seen a sizeable jump in people's utility and food bills combined with rent and mortgage repayments
Many turning to the charity for help in recent weeks are in full time employment but cannot make their wages stretch to meet the growing cost of lliving crisis
Catrriona Twomey of Cork Penny Dinners told RedFM News that urgent action needs to be taken to help people with continued rising costs.
"They're not just isolated incidents of increases - they're increasing every day, and that shouldn't be happening.
"What have we learned in this country? Is suffering acceptable in this country? No it isn't.
'If the Government can pull out the stops when they want to, then they should be pulling out the stops until the solution are in place. A rounded solution to the problems."
