Cork Penny Dinners say more people are coming to them each year struggling with cost of living expenses.
Parents have been meeting the charity near their children's schools to collect packed lunches because they can't afford to make them.
The charity is calling on the Government to bring down the cost of bills and cap rent prices and mortgage rates so children don't have to feel the effect of the cost of living crisis.
Speaking to RedFM News, Caitriona Twomey of Cork Penny Dinners says people coming to them are working and still struggling to make ends meet:
"I would be just urging the government to look closer at it and to make sure at least that the children don't suffer. It's children first in this for anyone that has a child and anyone that has children will put their children first, but they've been strapped"
