A Darkness Into Light walk is taking place at Cork Prison - the first time such the event has been hosted in a closed prison
Six inmates will be unlocked from their cells at 4am tomorrow morning in a low key security operation
A total of 30 people, including the six prisoners, will circle 10 laps of the 500 perimeter walk within the prison walls to raise funds for the charity
Speaking to RedFM News Assistant Prison Governor Brian McCarthy says he hopes the event will be a success which can run again in the future
"We will gauge on the support and we will look at the feedback we get afterwards and we will sit down and discuss it. I personally would love to see it continue on for many years to come"
