A Cork based property agent says an evictions ban will have a negative impact on the housing market.
Cabinet is expected to freeze evictions after the Attorney General gave plans the go-ahead.
It will mean no new eviction notices to quit can be issued until the end of March
Mark Rose, who runs Rose Properties in Cork City, says the legislation will limit the housing supply:
"That's going to hurt supply, if you say that there's a temporary restriction on selling, then think of the word temporary as soon as that period is off, and they think there could be another temporary restriction coming, then I believe they are going to sell any intervention or restrictions before haven't worked, and they've actually made it worse for more vulnerable people."
