A Cork pub owner has called on the Government to reduce the excise duty in this year's budget.
It comes amid fears that up to 300 pubs in Cork could be forced to close due to soaring energy prices.
Publicans have seen their daily running cost more than double, which is forcing many to considering opening on reduced hours.
Pubs serving food are set to suffer worst this winter with energy bills, as well as pubs with outdoor areas where light and heat isn't needed as much during summer.
Speaking to RedFM News, Michael Farrell of Farrells Bar in Youghal says this will have a damaging knock on effect on other local businesses.
