The General Manager of a bar and restaurant in Ballincollig says many in the sector have totally changed their recruitment process due to the pandemic.
General manager of The Tradehouse Central Bar and Kitchen Edward Burke was speaking following the full reopening of the hospitality trade.
Recruitment has proved a problem for many hotels, bars and restaurants during the pandemic as many well trained people were forced to seek work in other sectors.
Hospitality groups have warned the lack of trained staff will impact the sector for months or even years, with many employers now putting a renewed focus on training new staff to the highest possible degree.
Speaking to RedFM News, Edward Burke says he's optimistic about how the sector will respond to the challenge.
"The recruitment process has changed, you have to think outside the box a bit more than you're used to.
"We're very lucky at Tradehouse, we managed to retain our core team, the management side particularly.
"We're very lucky - once you have a core team that is strong to build around it makes recruitment that bit easier.
"It's going to be a challenge, but it will come back. Once travel opens up completely it will be back to normal I feel."
