A Cork school principal says he supports a call by the INTO to increase Covid-19 supports in order to ensure the safety of children and staff

The Irish National Teachers Organisation says schools needs to be supported in the form of substitute teachers, the retention of sanitisation funding and support for schools if they need to send pupils home due to Covid-19.

Carl O'Brien, principal of North Monastery Primary School told RedFM News he supports the exploration of a scheme on antigen testing in schools and the review of the age restriction on the use of face coverings:

"I think we do possibly need to be open to looking at those issues. Yes, I do. You know, I suppose the way I would look at is, is that if there's anything that could make children and families safe at this particular point, you know, we should b

e willing to look at it . And I think if it's deemed necessary by the medical authorities, basically that we would do everything we could to support that."
