Cork is bracing for further thundery downpours today.
A national Status Orange thunderstorm warning ended at 9am, but another then comes into place for Carlow, Kilkenny, Wicklow, Wexford and all of Munster, with very heavy showers and thunder likely until 4pm.
Emer Flood of Met Eireann says the heatwave is also now officially over:
"Probably some sunshine at times this week but definitely yesterday marked the end of the hot weather. You're looking at temperatures in the mid to high teens for the rest of the week. Maybe reaching the low 20s locally at times, but definitely a much cooler and fresher week."
