Cork Simon says homelessness figures in Cork have doubled since the crisis was declared.
553 people in Cork were accessing emergency accommodation in July compared to over 200 when the former Taoiseach Leo Varadkar declared the national emergency close to 7 years ago.
Speaking to RedFM News, CEO of Cork Simon Dermot Kavanagh says the homelessness crisis has only gotten worse since the declaration:
"It's now 7 years since Leo Varadkar declared the homelessness crisis an emergency. At that time, there were just 8,000 people homeless in the country. The figure now is close to 14,500, and in Cork the number of adults homelessness has doubled in that time."
