Cork Simon says the number of people coming to them for help has almost doubled since it opened its shelter in the city.
78 people are accessing the shelter each night which was designed to accommodate 47 people back in 2016.
542 adults were accessing emergency accommodation in Cork in the latest figures released by the Department of Housing.
Speaking to RedFM News, Paul Sheehan from Cork Simon says the shelter has to turn away up to 5 people every night because it's full:
"We're accommodating up to 78 people a night in our emergency shelter, back in 2016 it was around 47 people so the building was designed for that. We're still turning people away because we don't have a bed available."
