A Cork school which qualified for a pilot programme for in school therapy supports is still waiting to see the return of therapists

The principal of St Paul's Special School in Montenotte received a letter last week outlining the immediate appointment of one occupational therapist and one speech and language therapist one day a week - however they have yet to start

Anne Hartnett says the programme is disappointing and falls far short of her students needs

Speaking to RedFM News she says there are 97 children in the school and every one of them needs at least one type of therapy immediately

"I  fail to understand why such an announcement was made in August, and it gave such hope to the parents of the children in this school and it gave such hope to the staff of the children in this school, and now they're rubbing salt in the wounds. Our children have been extremely neglected since 2018 - the most vulnerable children in society"
