The biggest special school in Munster has been excluded from a pilot programme which will see the return of therapies to some schools
Parents of students at St Killian's School in Mayfield are to mount a lunchtime protest outside the school tomorrow
The majority of the 104 students at the school have a dual diagnosis of autism and a learning disability
Fiona Coughlan's daughter Chloe attends the school and she says her daughter relies on these therapies to achieve basic things such as speech:
"The teaching staff in St. Killian's are absolutely outstanding, they do an amazing job. But their job is to teach, their job is not to provide occupational therapy or speech and language therapy. These are therapies our children need in order to reach their full potential, to learn, to do the basic things. We can't achieve everything else if we can't get get those basics in place to help our children."
