A teenager who was stabbed at an apartment on John Redmond Street on Tuesday night is to undergo surgery today.
The 18-year-old was stabbed multiple times after a group of up to eight men burst into the apartment shortly before 9pm.
The Irish Examiner reports that gardai are actively searching for the men involved and they are now awaiting medical clearance to speak to the injured man.
He was taken to Cork University Hospital where he is being treated for a number of injuries to his chest and lower body.
Gardai confirmed that while his injuries are not life-threatening he was badly injured in the attack.
One of the lines of enquiry being followed by detectives is that the group had specifically targeted the teen and officers are trying to establish if the attack is connected to any other incidents.
