It's the beginning of SHARE's annual fundraising campaign which sees hundreds of students take part in the fundraising drive.

It's the 50th year of the charity's operations Leeside and the iconic crib is located once again on Patrick Street.

Speaking to RedFM News Cork students Sean Barrett and Luke Henson say they're very happy that they're able to help out and give back to the elderly who have had a particularly difficult year since the COVID19 outbreak:

Sean: "Do you see the big smiles on their faces? They're all happy to see people like, because a lot of them have been isolated for the past six, seven months, without seeing people. It makes you happy, just giving back. You know they'd have loved it like, seeing that and makes them happy makes us happy.

Luke: "It's great you know, we're doing what we can with the tools that we've been given. You know, that's really what SHARE is all about- just giving back to the community. And we're just happy we can do that even during COVID."

Ed and Pat are both residents in Cnoc Mhuire in Shandon St and say they had a great afternoon with the students:
