A Cork TD has labelled Irish Water as 'dismissive and incompetent'.
Deputy Pat Buckley was speaking in the Dáil today about the ongoing boil water notice in East Cork.
He says people are extremely stressed and frustrated about having to buy or boil water amid the current cost of living crisis.
Irish Water says the situation won't be resolved until 2025, leaving 9,500 people without adequate drinking water.
Speaking in the Dáil today, Pat Buckley appealed for Irish Water to provide a temporary solution in the meantime:
"The least they can do is supply free drinking water to those residents, nearly 10,000 people in East cork and in North Cork in Killavullen. So at least give somebody normalization because things are getting very very expensive here and to have that added stress of going and drawing water and stuff. It's just driving people mad but I would appeal to our squad to please sorted out 9,500 people who don't know what is coming for the next three years is absolutely ludicrous."
