Thomas Gould has raised concern about access to Cathedral Road and Old Youghal Road which are two main traffic arteries on the northside of the city.
The proposed Hollyhill to City corridor uses portions of both roads and Deputy Gould says the plan will lead to traffic chaos.
Local representatives met with the NTA today for a briefing on the BusConnects project which aims to increase the amount of bus lanes in the city.
Around 75 kilometres of new bus lanes will be established, which is over 60 kilometres more than is currently provided.
Speaking to RedFM News, Deputy Thomas Gould outlines his objection:
"Not to allow traffic drive up and down Cathedral Road- it's the busiest road on the northside- it just doesn't make any sense, how they could come up with that proposal? Where are all those cars that drive that road and the same with the Old Youghal Road, where are they to go? The amount of people that live there, the amount of businesses, people that are going from the city to the northside. We need BusConnects to work, but you can't have people looking at a map, drawing lines on the map. They need to know where those areas are and the implications that they [their decisions] have."
