It's expected the Fianna Fáil leader will be elected around lunchtime
The Cork South-Central TD and Turner's Cross native will be nominated for the position this morning before his election at a Dáil sitting in the Convention Centre.
It comes after Fianna Fáil, Fine Gael and the Green Party voted to support the programme for government by a three to one margin.
The Dáil will meet from 10.30 this morning with Micheál Martin to be elected Taoiseach around lunchtime.
He will be the first Cork-born Taoiseach in power since Jack Lynch in 1979.
He'll then travel to Aras an Uachtaran to be given his seal of office before appointing a cabinet of ministers.
