The Emergency Department is particularly overcrowded this afternoon
In a statement issued to RedFM News, CUH confirmed the ED has seen an increased level of activity and admissions over the past number of days.
The increase in attendance is due to the large number of very ill medical patients requiring admission.
Hospital management at CUH have requested that, where appropriate, the public contact their GP/South Doc and explore all other options available to them prior to attending the Emergency Department if their needs are not urgent.
