Cork will continue to struggle to house it's homeless unless the supply of adequate housing increases
Figures from the City Council show over a quarter of families living in emergency accommodation are refusing offers of housing
The top three reasons for refusal are location, no garden and unsuitable accommodation for a family
A lack of suitable housing means many families are now being offered 2 bed apartments and they are being refused as they don't meet the growing needs of a family
Speaking to RedFM News Taoiseach Micheál Martin says he intends to raise the problem with the City Council
"I was with City Council last week and what they were articulating to me is that about 24% of people in emergency accommodation are currently refusing offers of housing. That's something I need to intend to probe further with City Council"
