Cork based voluntary organisation, the Rainbow Club won the Youth category at the National Lottery Good Causes Awards on Saturday.

The Rainbow Club aims to help, support and teach people about autism, and is a lifeline to people in Cork living with it.

CEO of the Rainbow Club, Karen O'Mahony reacted to the win on Saturday night:

"It's such an acknowledgement of the work that my team do; our volunteers, the parents, everybody coming together to create this amazing service which helps so many families. I'm a mum of two children with autism as well and a lot of what I have learned has given me the ability to help other parents like me. This award is for everybody that's helped the club to get where it is."

The National Lottery Good Causes Awards honour the inspiring work and achievements of thousands of projects, clubs and individuals from all over Ireland who, with the help of National Lottery Good Causes funding, have had an extraordinary impact on their local communities.
