It could take several weeks before all roads across Cork damaged by the recent big freeze will be fully repaired
The extreme cold weather has led to road surfaces cracking in several areas across North and North West Cork
It's believed the repair costs could run into millions of euro
Director of Services for Roads and Transportation at Cork County Council Padraig Barrett says it will take some time before the road network in the region is fully restored
"There's eighteen hundred kilometers of road we know have been under snow for seven days or more. There's going to be a lot of damage and it's going to take weeks to repair. But that damage will just be surface repairs over the coming short period of time. There's more extensive repairs required in the long term"
