Council tenants in Noonan's Road are worried as squatters have reportedly moved into an empty flat.

The city council is in the process of rehoming residents from the block of flats which are filled with mould and damp along with rat infestations and is appealing to any residents at Noonan's Road to contact them about any security concerns.

Jackie Ashbourne was the Chair of the Noonan's Road Residents Association and has since been moved to house in another area of the city.

Speaking to RedFM News, Jackie says she's not surprised that squatters are now living in the empty flats:

"It got to this stage where, when people were moving out, just the time when I did. Nobody was going around boarding anything up. So I mean, I'm not surprised that's happened."
