Councillors Marcia D'Alton and Seamus McGrath were speaking one year after a huge fire at the R&H Hall grain silo and after the Council said they would not be creating a specific plan for the area.
Locals raised concerns about a lack of information during the fire which burned for almost three days and sent huge plumes of black smoke into the sky.
Ringaskiddy is home to pharmaceutical and biomedical companies and is also where the Port of Cork now operate from.
Speaking to RedFM News, Cllr Seamus McGrath says the region needs an emergency plan:
"The fire was a serious incident. There was a lot of questions asked afterwards. People were unsure how to respond on the day itself when it happened and it was quite a frightening experience for people to see the thick plumes of smoke in such close proximity to them. There are questions around air pollution. There are all sorts of questions that were asked and we just feel that one year on that the response has not been satisfactory at all. And we are going to continue to raise this issue."
