The County Council's Severe Weather Assessment Team met this morning after the National Emergency Coordination Group meeting.
They say their Road Treatment Programme will now be extended to treat P3 routes and town centre locations.
The County Council is asking the public to be aware that the Orange Weather Warning has the potential to cause treacherous conditions on paths and roads, to burst water pipes and damage engines.
They are also asking the pupils to be mindful of animal welfare issues.
