Minister for Foreign Affairs Simon Coveney will update the Cabinet on Cork's bid to host the 37th America’s Cup in 2024.
The Cork TD has been working closely with the Taoiseach and the sports minister to bring the international sporting event to Ireland.
New Zealand is the current holder of the cup but are unlikely to agree on terms to stage the next event there for a fourth time.
The America's Cup is recognised as the third largest sporting event globally after the World Cup and the Olympics.
Ireland has already been shortlisted as a potential host country with Cork proposed as the host venue.
