Experts suggest that the dolphins who have been spotted in the River Lee in recent days may be hunting for herring or sprat
Crowds have been enjoying the antics of the pod of dolphins in the River around Morrisons' Quay since the start of the week
Dolphins are frequent visitors to Cork particulary at this time of year
Padraig Whooley of the Irish Whale and Dolphin Group told RedFM News says he expects they will head out to deeper water and the open sea as the tide recedes
"This is the time of year when forage fish species like herring and sprat come inshore to spawn and the dolphins would simply come up by Roches Point and kept trapping the fish and pushing them further up the river into Cork city centre which is really the point of no return and hopefully they will be able to make their way back out but they usually do"
