The Cork Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals say they will be keeping a close eye on the new laws around XL Bully dogs

From October 1st, the breeding, rehoming, reselling and importing of the dogs will be banned

Owners of the dogs have until next February to get them microchipped, neutered and registered

Speaking to RedFM News Vincent Cashman of the CSPCA says the new laws will be policed by the warden services

"A certain amount of it will be down to the dog warden services, and we'll say any of the charities that have these dogs, hopefully they will be able to police themselves. So if they have one of these dogs, that they follow the same rules and regulations as everybody else. These dogs simply cannot be rehomed and unfortunately, they'll have to be put to sleep"
