Cork University Hospital are advising that due to increased level of activity in recent days some patients may experience a delay in the Emergency Department.

Management at the hospital say the increase in attendance is due to the large number of very ill medical patients requiring admission.

The advise to the public is to contact their GP/South Doc in the first instance where appropriate and explore all other options available to them prior to attending the Emergency Department if their needs are not urgent such as the Mercy Urgent Care Centre at St. Mary's Health Campus in Gurranabraher, the Local Injuries Unit in Bantry General Hospital and its counterpart in Mallow General Hospital.

Hospital Management at CUH apologises for any inconvenience caused.
