Management say the increasing number of very ill medical patients attending the Emergency Department is putting significant pressure on the hospital and say people may experience delays in the ED.

The hospital are asking people with non-urgent needs to contact their GP and explore all available options such as local injury clinics at the Mercy Urgent Care Centre and Mallow and Bantry General Hospitals.

CUH was the most overcrowded hospital in the country this morning, according to the INMO with 62 people waiting for a bed in the ED.
