Cork University Hospital could have a helipad by March of 2024.
The Irish Examiner report that it's hoped construction will begin in the summer, and will take 9 months to complete.
Planning for the helipad has been in place since July of 2019 with €2m in funding in place, however the project was delayed throughout the Covid pandemic.
The helipad will be located in what is currently a staff car park on the north east area of the CUH campus, with a two storey staff car park on the west side of the campus to replace the parking spaces lost to the helipad.
CUH has been without a helipad for over 20 years after the original one was decommissioned in 2003.
