Cork University Hospital is the most overcrowded hospital in the country today with 53 people waiting for a bed in the Emergency Department.
Today's INMO Trolley Watch Figures comes less than a week after the nursing union described the situation at CUH as "out of control and extremely dangerous".
The union say the overcrowding will compromise infection control and have called on the government to increase the number of beds and level of staffing at the hospital before winter.
Speaking to RedFM News, Liam Conway from the INMO says a lack of step-down facilities is also a huge issue in Cork:.
"Delayed discharge is a major factor and a major problem in terms of getting patients who have received their treatment but who may need rehab or step down facilities in Cork - they're not available.
"There's not enough homecare packages available and there's not enough home helps services available.
"There needs to be urgent intervention on those main points from the government."
