Cork University University Maternity Hospital has been fined €65,000 following a data breach.
The Irish Examiner reports the personal information of 78 Cork University University Maternity Hospital patients was found at a recycling facility.
A member of the public discovered the documents and notified the HSE who in turn reported the breach to the Data Protection Commissioner.
The paper says the data included medical histories and plans for future patient care and that it's not known how the documents ended up at the recycling centre.
CUMH says its takes all breaches seriously, that all patients affected had been notified and that measures have been implemented to reduce the risk of future breaches.
