Debenhams workers in Cork fearful they will not secure new retail jobs in the city

Debenhams workers in Cork say they're not confident they'll secure new jobs in retail in the city in the near future.

Hundreds lost their jobs in recent weeks after the department store announced it was closing all of its Irish stores.

Workers there have been staging protests since the announcement over lack of redundancy payments.

Many workers say they're planning to leave retail entirely as the future is too uncertain with several brands on Patrick St announcing their permanent closure in the wake of the  crisis.

Speaking to RedFM News former manager at the Debenhams Patrick St. branch Sarah says she's not confident of securing another job in retail as the industry is under threat and there's no support:
