The Department of Transport has released a naval warning ahead of a Russian Navy exercise off the Cork coast next week.
It's warning vessels that the exercises will include naval artillery and rockets and advises of "serious safety risks in the operation area".
It also released the coordinates of the location of the military drills.
The naval warning comes as the Russian Ambassador is to speak with Irish fishermen this morning about their concerns over the naval exercise
It follows an announcement by fishermen that they're sending a fleet of 20 boats to sea as part of a peaceful protest in an attempt to disrupt the military exercises.
Chief executive of the Irish South and West Fish Producers Organisation Patrick Murphy says the Department's warning is addressed to the wrong side.
"We're going there first, and their boats will come afterwards. So if they're coming to where we're going fishing it isn't us in their way, it's them coming in to create danger.
"The right was notice was sent to the wrong people, so when you're undermining people's positions I think the Government are doing a damn good job of that themselves."
