The Director of Cork Life Centre, Don O'Leary was conferred with a civic award today for his outstanding contribution to education in Cork City.
The official ceremony took place in front of the iconic red doors of Cork Life Centre, with Mr. O'Leary's family and friends in attendance.
Despite being diagnosed with terminal cancer, he continues to work at Cork Life Centre - the voluntary organisation offering an alternative learning environment to marginalised young people.
The Lord Mayor of Cork, Cllr. Colm Kelleher honoured Don O'Leary's "outstanding and unique contribution" to the "empowerment of young people" and his "outstanding contribution to the present and future of the city and its people."
