The Donkey Sanctuary in Liscarroll is facing growing financial pressures as demand for services increases.
The sanctuary is currently at full capacity with the organisation now focusing on outreach community support.
This involves experts on the road giving advice on donkey care and sourcing local vets for medical treatment if needed
Speaking to RedFM news, Head of Welfare Cathy Griffin says the cost of the support programme is adding up:
"Covering the costs of those vets and those farriers, etc, that all really adds up. Like we've reached over 800 donkeys in the community already this year, and it's really important work. We really want to help improve welfare for donkeys in Ireland, but in order to do that, it takes financial resources, and we can't do that without people support".
