One such community organisation involved in coordinating the community volunteer effort to help Ukrainian refugees is IRD Duhallow.
The Duhallow region of North Cork has seen a large influx of Ukrainian refugees in recent days.
The Manager of IRD Duhallow, Maura Walsh, told RedFM News that anyone who believes they may be able to offer accommodation, should contact the local authority.
Speaking to RedFM News, Maura says the proposed €400 support for those hosting Ukrainian refugees may enable more people to offer support:
"There are a number of routes. I would be saying the local authority. Maurice Manning is the head of Housing at the County Council. I know that they are now taking stock. They will then link with the Red Cross and IPAS (International Protection Accommodation Services). And I do think the €400 euros that's been spoken about by the government, that would be a huge incentive because a lot of people that had the goodwill in offering rooms or granny flats or houses, if they were faced with the ESB bill on top of their own ESB bill, it would be a lot. Now, anybody looking for a number ring here and we'll pass it on".
