A €22m expansion of the Mercy University Hospital is on schedule to be completed by October.
The upgrade will deliver 30 extra inpatient beds and two new state-of-the-art operating theatres.
The upgrade is part of a €33 million capital development programme.
The investment also includes an expanded emergency department, developments to the ICU and Critical Care Unit and a new radiology department.
