A 4 million euro investment is being made to replace water mains on the city's South Quays.
Uisce Éireann says it plans to replace old cast iron pipes from the 1930's which have been causing water discolouration for homeowners in Cork.
It's expected the project will be completed by this time next year.
The water provider says works will also commence to fix pipes at Sydney Park and Dublin hill later in the year.
