€50 is now seen as the going rate to be put in a card for a child on their Confirmation Day.
Confirmation costs have been spiraling over the years as the celebrations can now include a meal out or hosting a party at home which can involve hiring entertainment such as bouncy castles.
The Money Advice and Budgeting Service is advising people to never put off paying important bills to shell out money for special occasions.
Speaking to RedFM News, Jessie Anthony from MABS in Cork says people feel tremendous pressure with the cost of confirmations:
"It's very difficult to set money asside or save for those special events and it's definitely impacting peoples wellbeing and they feel a little bit under pressure trying to keep everybody happy really."
